Safety First!
To ensure we all stay safe around the use of drones we strictly follow the CAA guidance as details in the Air Navigation Order (ANO) CAP393 and CAP722.
The general rules are:-
- Permission must be gained from any land owner from which the drone takes off before operations can commence.
- There must be 50 metre separation from the UAV from uninvolved people*.
- There must be 30 metre separation from the UAV during take-off and landing from uninvolved people not under the control of the operator.
- UAVs cannot fly in the vicinity of aerodromes or within controlled airspace without the appropriate permissions – these are obtained before commencement of the job.
- The Drone cannot fly more than 400ft (120metres) from the surface in height closest to the drone**.
- Unaided VLOS (visual line of sight) must be maintained at all times.
- For groups of people over 1000 persons – a minimum of 150 metres distance from the UAV must be maintained.
- Drone must not fly directly over uninvolved persons at any time.
- Drone complies fully with CAP393 of the Air Navigation Order (ANO) and CAP722.
- CAA approved Operations Manual which includes all our available scope of operations and can be viewed at any time by the client.
As a commercial drone operator we are fully Insured – compliant with EU Regulation (EC) No 785/2004
* Uninvolved people are people who have not a specific safety brief regarding the drone operation.
** This can be increased if a structure being inspected exceeds 400ft however the drone can not exceed 50ft above the structure height.
